Simsound with FSUIPC and PMDG FS2024
Hi everyone,
I know this isn't an FSUIPC issue, but I’m hoping someone has a solution. I’ve recently started using the PMDG 737-800 in FS2024 along with Simsounds 5.01. Unfortunately, Thomas from Simsounds has passed away, so there is no longer any support available. Simsounds is no longer detecting the status of the seatbelt and no-smoking signs. I’m sure this has to do with the changes to the variables, but I don’t know what or where I need to change things to get them recognized again. I hope someone here can help me.
Many thanks.
Urs
If Simsounds is using FSUIPC offsets 341C and 341D to determine the status of the no smoking/seatbelt switches, it could be that the PMDG aircraft is not using these offsets (or the simvars held in those offsets), and maybe using the PMDG specific offsets/data.
Can you set logging for those offsets (Log->Offsets) as U8, and also log the PMDG offsets 64FA and 64FB as U8 (you will also need to activate the PMDG-specific offsets if you have not done that already).
Also set logging for IPC Reads so that I can see if these offsets are being read. Then show me/attach an FSUIPC7.log file where you change the status of these signs.
If its reading those offsets but the data is held in other offsets, it is possible to spoof the reading of the bad offset to the good one, but first we need to confirm what its reading and where the data is held.
John
Hi John,
thank you very much for your reply and your efforts. I believe I’ve tested everything just as you asked; please excuse me if anything isn't quite right. You’ll find the log attached. Many thanks for looking into this.
Best regards
Urs
I am not familiar with SimSounds, but it seems that you can configure the offsets it reads to trigger the no smoking/seatbelt sounds. So no need to spoof the reading - just determine where the data is held and configure SimSounds to use those offsets.
If 64FA and 64FB hold the correct data, you can use them. Otherwise, check for available lvars - if any of these hold the required data then you can add the lvars to FSUIPC offsets and then configure SimSounds to use these offsets.
Thanks for your message and your help. I’m really lost when it comes to things like this and don't really know my way around them. I already struggled to pick out the items for John, and I hope I got it right. You guys are great—thanks so much for the help.
Please attach your logs! I am finishing for the day now and will take a look next week...
Hi John, I actually attached the log; why it wasn't included is a mystery to me. I'll try again. Many thanks and have a great weekend.
Best regards
Urs
You added the logging for offsets 64FA and 64FB, but not for offsets 341C and 341D. But I also can't see any reads for these offsets. 64FA and 64FB do hold the values that SimSounds need to trigger the sounds.
I think what you need to do is to go into the SimSound settings and configure the offsets for the seatbelts and no-smokingalerts to use offsets 0x64FA and 0x64FB. Try this please...
Not quite the same issue as yours, but this posts shows you how to configure for ProSim. Look at the part for the 'No Smoking sign' - this shows you can configure the offset to be read that triggers this:
https://www.shared-cockpit.com/prosim-b738/simsounds-offset-lvars.html
Should be similar when using the PMDG 737 - just configure to use the correct offsets (and values).
