Regain Window Focus with button checked

Hi John, I have 5 monitors  and I run MSFS 2020 with FSUIPC7. Monitor 1 is the primary window for MSFS.

On Monitor 1-4 I have cockpit panels and charts.

Now my point: when I am in Monitor 3 (e.g.) and want to change with a controler button the view, then I have to select with the mouse first the primary monitor window, and then click the button for view change.

With my StreamDeck (SD) I have a plug in called "Windows Mover (BarRaider)" and this plugin selects with my configuration the primary window. In SD I have then programed a sequence "Focus Monitor 1" and click "View change".

Question: How can I implement that with FSUIPC?

I am not sure I fully understand your issue...

FSUIPC should pick-up all button presses, regardless of which window has the focus, if the controller is a standard direct input device. However, if the controller is an xinput device, then FSUIPC by default must have the focus to receive the controller button press.There is some additonal software you can use so that FSUIPC receives the controller input regardless of the focus - rom the README.txt:

XINPUT devices, such as the XBox One and XBox 360 controllers do not work natively with FSUIPC7.
If you want to use FSUIPC7 with such devices, you will need to install and configure a conversion utility called XInput Plus.
Please see the following tutorial:
https://www.play-old-pc-games.com/compatibility-tools/xinput-plus-tutorial/
You can download from here: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2265-xinput-plus-v415290/
Also note that you need to point this utility to the FSUIPC7.exe, not the MSFS.exe.

Also, having several monitors shouldn't make a difference - it is only the window focus that could be important.

First determine if FSUIPC is seeing the button press. Set logging for Buttons & Keys, open the logging console and press the controller button that changes the view, and do this when different windows (also on different monitors) have the focus. What do you see? When does FSUIPC recognise the button press?

Also, if the controller you refer to is the StreamDeck (and this is assigned in FSUIPC), then this sends key presses not button events. Generally, to get such key presses and assign them in FSUIPC, you need to set a global keyboard hook so that FSUIPC receives the key presses. Todo this, you need to add the following to the [General] section of your FSUIPC7.ini file:

UseKeyboardHook=Yes

Alternatively, if you are using PilotsDeck for your StreamDeck and your issue/problem is with this, then you should ask about this on the PilotsDeck forum (ubder User Contributions) where the developer of this software may be able to help.

@fsuipc-support Hello John, thanks.

for clarification: I need in FSUIPC a button sequence 1. change to monitor 1 focus, 2. change MSFS cockpit view.

That is NOT the point: "FSUIPC should pick-up all button presses, regardless of which window has the focus" .

The point is, that with FSUIPC button press for "Cockpit Views change" , nothing happens in the simulator, cause the WINDOWS (WIN10) focus is NOT there.

below is the configuration, I did with the SD plugin "Window Mover"

How about a FSUIPC.INI add in with the correct sequence?

What does the FSUIPC function "key focus fsuipc "  do ?

Does this clarify a little?

Regards

I need in FSUIPC a button sequence 1. change to monitor 1 focus,

But you cannot change focus to a monitor. You can only set the focus to a window, and a monitor can contain multiple windows. FSUIPC knows nothing about 'monitors', only windows (which can be on different monitors). This is one reason why I do not understand your issue.

That is NOT the point: "FSUIPC should pick-up all button presses, regardless of which window has the focus" .

But this IS the point. Can FSUIPC see the button press? Is it actually sending the 'cockpit view change'? Please show me / attach your FSUIPC7.log and .ini files. with the log showing your issue with logging for Buttons & Keys activated. Also try this with the logging console window open so that you can see if the button press is logged.
And where is this 'button' actually assigned?

The point is, that with FSUIPC button press for "Cockpit Views change" , nothing happens in the simulator, cause the WINDOWS (WIN10) focus is NOT there.

But are you sure that the control is being sent? If its a control, it can only go the the FS, regardless of focus. If FSUIPC is sending this as a keypress, then this should also go to the FS but could go to another app if it has the focus. If this is the case, you can try setting the ini parameter:

SetForegroundOnKeySend=Yes

See the Advanced User guide for details on this parameter. Also check the ini KeyboardFocus
parameter and maybe also try

KeyboardFocus=Yes

But I don't think this will help with a button assignment, as the documentation for this parameter does say: For key-presses assigned to buttons in FSUIPCs Buttons & Switches assignment dialog, FSUIPC will always give MSFS the focus so that these key presses can be received and processed.

What does the FSUIPC function "key focus fsuipc "  do ?

Switches the keyboard focus to FSUIPC. Also Key Focus Restore to return the focus.

But I really can comment any further without seeing your files, with the requested logging. What controller is sending this 'button press', is FSUIPC seeing this, and what is it assigned to?

And the image you attached means nothing to me. Attach files that I request please, nit images of other products.

sorry for misunderstandings. Focus change is to Windows windows not to monitors.

Here are my files.

One button is assigned {Key press: End} which is "view change"

FSUIPC is not the problem, all button assignments works perfect with MSFS, WHEN MSFS IS IN WINDOW FOCUS.

So I first have to click on the simulator window, to get the focus, and after on FSUIPC controller button.
