Hi, problem solved!!!  As I think you know John I have a new PC running Windows 11.  Prior to this was using Windows 7.  The whole problem relates to 'saving' changes in MCP ini file.  As you will know, under Windows 7, you would make a change, click close, and up would come a window asking if you wanted to Save the change.  Click Save and end of.

It would seem very different in W11.  Make change in ini file, click file - save - up comes window asking if you want to save which would replace the whole ini file being used.  Clicking yes does not save the file!, at least not for me.

We ended up copying the ini file to the desk top, making the necessary changes, particularly Com Port 3, and placing back in MCP Folder and overwriting existing file.  Having done this my MCP fired up.

I hope anyone following all of this has learnt something to help them.  I would thank you very much John for the time you have devoted to this one.  My kind regards to your Dad; without him we wouldn't even have been having these talks.

Very best, Steven

Great - glad you got to the bottom of this! Strange though - maybe it is a permissions issue on the ini file or one of the folders its under?

No problem - will pass on your regars, cheers,

John
