This are the (new) Support Forums for FSUIPC and related products.

These forums replace the old support forums which have been running for 20+ years. The old forums contain a wealth of information on all FSUIPC products, and are still available (until the end of the year) for read-only here.

At the moment these new forums are quite empty – I will be updating the FAQ section and copying across the User Contributions from the old forums in the next few months.

[Solved] FlightIllusion not connecting to FSUIPC/MSFS 2024

Hi John

Flightillusion (FI) gauges were working fine for me under MSFS 2020/FSUIPC7 v7.5.5.  I didn’t use the FI MSFS2020 sw, as you cannot customize anything with offsets and there were several gauges missing or not working.  Unfortunately they are not in business anymore.  So I used the penultimate version (v10.1.4) and all my gauges worked perfectly.

Having just moved to MSFS 2024 and updated to FSUIPC beta 7.5.6b the FI sw no longer connects, see image below.  Maybe you know if something changed between fsuipc 7.5.5 and 7.5.6b that may have caused this.  I thought of our discussion here https://forum.simflight.com/topic/99647-update-from-7417-to-754-is-causing-simsounds-to-close/ and changed the entry to  init3308=14 for MSFS 2024 but that doesn’t seem to be it

As another clue, I can only open the FI program if I select OPEN, running as administrator (which I akways did under MSFS 2020) comes up with the error in the 2nd pic below

I hope you can help so I can get my gauges working again!  Thanks!

Charles

The problem is that the FI gauges don’t recognise MSFS2024.

But that sets the version to MSFS2024. You need to fool it into thinking MSDFS2020 is running, by setting
    init3308=13
(as stated in that other support request that you referenced).

Maybe you know if something changed between fsuipc 7.5.5 and 7.5.6b that may have caused this.

No, there is no change that can cause this (please see the change history!) – but are you saying that it was working with 7.5.5 in MSFS2024? Did you try this?

Note that I will be taking a few days off over the new year, back on the 5th January.

John

It was working fine with 7.5.5 and MSFS 2020

I haven’t tried 7.5.5 in 2024 and I need 7.5.6b as it is PMDG, I’ll copy back the 7.5.5 exe and try

Otherwise Air Manager seems the only answer, I think you need lua scripts with that, presumably most of the read offsets are in the PMDG 737 file in the fsuipc documents folder, so I’ll read up on your manuals

Well, if the issue is that the FlightIllusion software is compatible with MSFS2020 but not MSFS2024, then this is understandable. Did you try setting init3308 to 13?
You can also set logging for IPC Reads and show me an FSUIPC7.log file showing this connection issue – this may show any issues and tell me what offsets it is trying to read.

Happy New Year John and thanks!

Yes, it was originally on 13, I have put it back to 13

You can also set logging for IPC Reads and show me an FSUIPC7.log file showing this connection issue

I deleted log file, ran mSFS 2024, set IPC Reads to log, then tried opening FI sw as administrator (got the runtime error as above), then opened it with “open” (non-administrator), the program opens but with same screen as in my 30/12 post, i.e. IPC timed out.  Here is the log:
