I just replaced the square brackets with quotes (like this)—and the button stopped working! With square brackets - work.

Double square brackets are just another method in lua to denote a string. However, it is far more common to use either single or double quotes. But they should be the same - if not, something else is happening. You can activate WAPI Debug level logging to see what string is being passed from FSUIPC to the WASM to be executed. Try both with the double square brackets and when using a quote or double-quote character to see what the difference is (in your FSUIPV7.log file) - you can do this with the logging console window open so that you can see this in real-time.

Changing the (WAIT:100) to WAIT:100, SLEEP:100 or (SLEEP:100) ....  No any changes, it works the same way, without animation.

There is no such RPN function as WAIT (as far as I know), so I think this is a Spad.Next addition. This will just cause an error once reached when executing the calc. code string, which may also be causing the remaining code to fail to execute. The equivalent function for FSUIPC is SLEEP. So please use this, and do NOT not enclose in brackets, as everything before this is executed first (which will include the opening bracket before the SLEEP command), and everything after the SLEEP:nnn will be executed after the defined delay, which will include the closing bracket if specified. So always use this not enclosed in brackets.

This may or may not improve things, but it should be done correctly, and it may then work when the actual issue preventing this has been fixed.
