[Solved] Aircraft HVAR file locations in MSFS2020 and MSFS2024

For posterity.
I have some lua scripts that interface with arduino to run various panels. I built a GNS-530 and had it working in MSF2020 having learned about HVARs, how to manipulate them, and how to make aircraft specific .hvar files.

When it came to MSFS2024, I had a heck of a time finding what folder to put the .hvar files in. It is not the same path as MSFS2020.
I have the Steam version of both Simulations so your miles may vary, or my installations may be weird. I nearly had to sacrifice a chicken, burn some herbs and roll some bones to figure this out.

Anyway here are where my folder locations are for aircraft .hvar so FSUIPC can initiate them.

MSFS2020 Path: C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community\fsuipc-lvar-module\modules

MSFS2024 Path: C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\WASM\MSFS2020\fsuipc-lvar-module\work

I hope this can help somebody else as google search and duckduckgo did not present the answer.

The location is known as the 'WASM persistent storage area', and is documented inthe Advanced User guide on pages 51-52:

WASM module ini file and parameters

The WASM module takes its default settings from ini files. These are named FSUIPC_WASM.ini and can be located:

In the WASM folder, under your Community/fsuipc-lvar-module folder

In the WASM persistent storage area, which is:
For Steam installs, in the following folder under your user account for MSFS2020:
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\fsuipc-lvar-module\work
and for MSFS2020:
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\WASM\MSFS2020\fsuipc-lvar-module\work

For MS Store installs, in the following folder under your user account for MSFS2020:
AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Packages\fsuipc-lvar- module\work
and for MSFS2024:
AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\WASM\MSFS2020\fsuipc-lvar- module\work

The FSUIPC WASM log file (FSUIPC_WASM.log) can also be found in this location.

The section on hvar files also says '...which can be located either the WASM persistent storage area (see following section for location details) or under the FSUIPC WASM's modules folder.'. But maybe this isn't too clear...

Also, I wouldn't recommend using hvar files these days. You should define presets to access hvars (if not already available in the MF presets).
