[Solved] Windows 10 reinstall P3Dv4.5 FSUIPC 6 settings
Hello
I just reinstalled W10 on the same PC and need help with FSUIPC 6. Before the W10 reinstall I saved a lot of files including the Modules folder from P3Dv4.5.
I reinstalled P3D and ran it once before installing FSUIPC 6. I then copied the old Modules folder into the new P3D install (I saved the new Modules folder before doing that) and noticed none of my many settings in FSUIPC were showing. I believe this is due to the new W10 install assigning new GUID's.
How can I get my settings back without redoing all of them? Can I copy the new GUID's into the old folder and if so which ones?
Thanks for a great program.
Ed
You can do this quite easily if you are using the 'JoyLetters' facility, but it is a bit of a pain if you are not using this facility...
Can you please attach your FSUIPC6.log, FSUIPC6.ini and FSUIPC6.JoyScan.csv files and I will take a look.
Hello
I have not been using JoyLetters. Attached are the 3 files you requested. I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thank you
Ed
Your ini file is quite a mess...
You were using JoyLetters. but now not for some reason. You have assignments to the following joyletters (those registered as 'MISSING JOYSTICK'): S, J, E, G, H, C, K, N, U, F, B
Could you please take a look at your ini file and tell me which device was assigned to each of those letters? i.e. look at the assignments to those letters and see if you can determine which device it was. This would help enormously.
And it looks like you have added the characters '//' before quite a few lines in your ini file...why? If you want to comment-out lines in an ini file. use ';'.
I will try and sort this out for you, but tomorrow now. I am actually on holiday this week, but I will try and find some time tomorrow to take a look...
John
Hi John
I agree the INI is a mess. It is an accumulation of almost 10 years of updates and changes and I have not been as careful as I should have been with its organization.
Regarding JoyLetters, I do remember using it at one time but don't remember why I stopped.
The MISSING JOYSTICK alerts started yesterday as I was trying to identify the new GUID so I could update the INI without a complete reset of each command.
I'm sorry but I don't know how to identify what letter matches a controller. I have attached the INI file I saved before the W10 update,(FSUIPC6 before W10 reinstall.INI) and hopefully that will help you ID the device and GUID by comparing the before and after files.
I really appreciate your taking time to clean up my mess. Since you are on holiday if you would like to hold off until your return that is fine with me.
Thank you
Ed
