[Solved] WideFs Not Working After Install of FSUIPC 7.5.6

Good morning, sorry to bother you. Widefs has been working well for a long time but my remote PC does not connect after updating to FSUIPC 7.5.6. Have the registered version, Windows 11, MSFS 2024.  Installed FSUIPC 7.5.6 on remote PC and reinstalled Widefs. Widefs.ini and .log are attached.  Added the ipaddress on the FS pc to the ini file but since deleted that entry because it made no difference. Servername shown in the log is correct.

Can you help me out here please.

Martin

Please also attach your FSUIPC7.log and WideServer.log files from the FS/server PC.

Thanks for the look at this. FSUIPC.log and Wideserver.log from FS PC attached.

First, I do not think this is anything to do with the update to 7.5.6. There has been no changes whatsoever in the WideServer / WideClient interface for many years. You can go back to your previous version (was this 7.5.5) to confirm this. Something else must have changed.

Can you please review the documentation - see the section Configure your Network in the WideFS User guide.

The first thing to try is to add

ServerName=MSFS-PC
Protocol=TCP

to the [Config] section of the WideClient.ini file. If you still have issues, then precede to check:

- the 'WorkGroup' name is the same on both PCs

- firewalls: try disabling all firewalls (server PC, client PC and router) to see if that makes a difference

Thank you. I had already disabled all firewalls and anti virus, and had spent some time looking at the user guide but am sorry to say that I find some of it difficult to understand.

My remote PC is now connecting - here is what I have done; uninstalled the new version of FSUIPC from the remote pc and deleted Widefs. Installed the previous version of FSUIPC (7.5.5) and restored the older Widefs file from the recycle bin. I did add the servername and protocol entries you suggested to the Widefs.ini file.  The new version of FSUIPC (7.5.6) remains on the FS PC, but as I said, Widefs is now connecting on the remote PC as before.

Maybe this will help someone else if they encounter this problem.

Your help is much appreciated.

Martin
