This are the (new) Support Forums for FSUIPC and related products.

These forums replace the old support forums which have been running for 20+ years. The old forums contain a wealth of information on all FSUIPC products, and are still available (until the end of the year) for read-only here.

At the moment these new forums are quite empty – I will be updating the FAQ section and copying across the User Contributions from the old forums in the next few months.

[Solved] PMDG 737-800 (MSFS 2024) Parking brake release

I have the parking brake set to Realistic in the CDU Options/Simulation.

I can set parking brake by pressing my hardware brake pedals (brakes are configured in FSUIPC joystick calibration) and then moving the hardware parking brake lever, I have the parking brake lever configured as a button in FSUIPC using the Custom Control method (see pic below), this works perfectly.

But I have tried everything and cannot get the park brake lever to release.  I press the brakes fully, wait a few seconds, move the park brake lever, nothing happens, not even if I try every mouse click on the in-sim park brake lever.

I have checked all my MSFS and FSUIPC and other settings and cannot see anything conflicting.

I thought the in-sim park brake lever was supposed to release just pressing the brakes, so I tried the Custom Control in the pic below but without the “Control sent when button released” bit, in case that was conflicting, but still nothing.  I also tried several other mouse type parameters

I also tried the Rotor Brake method in the below settings to release, but still no go

Regards

Charles

I am slightly confused with that image as you reference it twice – configured as your button to set the parking brake (which it looks to be), and also as ‘the Rotor Brake method in the below settings to release’, which it certainly isn’t. To release, you can use the same custom control (70325) with parameter 2147483648 (which is a right mouse click), or the Rotor Brake control with a parameter of 69302. Note that this assumes that the same controls work for the PMDG737-700 in MSFS2024 as the PMDG 737-700 in MSFS2020.

Are both your toe brakes also assigned in FSUIPC7? If so, then you could try adjusting the BrakeReleaseThreshold ini parameter – see the Advanced User guide for details on this. However, I think this works by sending the standard FS Brakes control. so probably not of much use.

I don’t have the 737 for MSFS2024 (only for MSFS2020). Do you have the PMDG737 for the 2020, and does this work there? Otherwise I can check this with the PMDG 737 in MSFS2020.

Other than that, I am not sure what to advise. Could you show me your ini and a log file, generated with logging for Events and Axes Controls set. The log file will be quite large I try and keep the session as short as possible: load the aircraft to the ready-to-fly state, set the required logging, turn on the parling brakes, press your toe brakes (to try and release the parking brake) and also try any assignment you have to release them.

if I try every mouse click on the in-sim park brake lever.

This is very strange – if you can’t release with a mouse click, the custom controls won’t be working as that is what they emulate. Maybe also try the custom control with a value of 0 and 1 (for off / on) instead of using mouse-click parameters.

Note that I will be taking a few days off now over the New Year, back at work on the 5th.

Thx John, I have resolved it by changing the button release (in the pic above under Buttons which is my park brake lever) to be a keypress, which I set in the ini file, being CTRL + SPACEBAR which I assigned in MSFS controls to Park Brake Release.  So now when I press the toebrakes, my TQ motor depresses the park brake lever and they now release in the PMDG

I think I tried all mouse variations in-sim (left, right, left drag, change, centre click), judging by the PMDG forum there seem to be a lot of users with this issue

To address your other questions:

– Toe brakes are configured in fsuipc with the ini threshold at 70-80% I can’t remember exactly but this is all working

– I have the PMDG for MSFS 2020 but never used it and no longer have MSFS 2020 installed

Have a wonderful 2026, don’t worry about responding until you’re back

So the parking brake release is assigned in MSFS. Strange that the custom control for this is not working…

Ok, then FSUIPC is probably sending a standard control to release the parking brake, but the standard control is not working for the PMDG 737. You could have a lua that waits / listens for this event, and then sends a custom control to release the parking brake when this is seen. But this won’t work if the custom control isn’t working.

Not sure what is happening as I don’t have this aircraft, but happy that you have found a working solution.
