This are the (new) Support Forums for FSUIPC and related products.

These forums replace the old support forums which have been running for 20+ years. The old forums contain a wealth of information on all FSUIPC products, and are still available (until the end of the year) for read-only here.

At the moment these new forums are quite empty – I will be updating the FAQ section and copying across the User Contributions from the old forums in the next few months.

[Solved] FSUIPC7 Causing periodic pause

Hi John, This is a really strange one, as everything has been working fine since forever ;-). However, just recently the sim is completely freezing every minute, like clockwork. Yesterday it was pausing for 22 seconds, but today it is ‘only’ pausing for 12 seconds. I’ve spent the last few hours trying to track down the culprit. My Community folder is empty apart from the PMDG 737. I have rolling cache off in addition to no data or live weather, so basically running offline. Turned anti-virus off and even tried using my phone’s internet hotspot to rule out any internet issues, and yet the problem remains. The only thing I hadn’t tried was running without FSUIPC. When I did, the pausing stopped and all was well. I was running version 7.5.4 and just updated to 7.5.5 and tried again, but the pausing returned. Stop FSUIPC and the problem is gone.

So, my quesion is, what logging options would you like to give the best chance of seeing what’s causing this issue, and I’ll send it ASAP.

Thank you

Are you using auto-save? This can cause such pauses when using complex aircraft such as the PMDG ones. So if using auto-save, try disabling that. Also see this FAQ entry: https://fsuipc.com/community/fsuipc-faq-issues/problems-with-autosave-on-windows-10-11-the-answers/#post-6

Otherwise try opening the logging console (Log->Open Console) and see what the last messages logged are when this pause occurs. Also check the MSFS logging console for messages. If something is causing the MSFS console to be flooded with messages, then this can cause pauses/stutters.

Strange this has only just started happening – something must have changed somewhere…
Are you using MSFS2020 or MSFS2024 (or both)?

If the problem persists, please show me / attach your FSUIPC7.log and FSUIPC7.ini files.

John

Hi John, thanks for the reply. Yes I had turned Auto Save on last week prior to a long flight. And that’s the first thing I checked in FSUIPC options, but it wasn’t showing as on, so I thought I must have turned it off after the flight. Just checking through the INI file and the AutoSave section is there with Enabled set to ON. But as I say, that is not reflected in the FSUIPC options (should it be?). So now the problem is solved. Phew!

Yes, it should…
However, note that there are now two auto-save sections, one for MSFS2020 and another for MSFS2024. If you open the auto-save panel when FSUIPC7 is not connect the the FS, it does not know which section to use (as it does not know the MSFS version you are using) and so will not correctly reflect your settings.

This is far from ideal! I think I will disable access to the auto-save panel until the FS is known, i.e .FSUIPC7 is connected to MSFS. I will add this change for the next release.

Regards,

John
