Elevator does not respond

Hi,

I recently switched from FSX and fsuipc4 to msfs2020 and fsuipc7. Since than my elevator does not respond during take of and flight. My B737 won't rotate. It high speed it will go into a steep climb due to lift at this speed.  I use Prosim/PMDG B737/ arduino's and Leo Bodnar BU0836A interface cards. In Prosim all seems normal and correct. In the lower ICAS I can see the elevator responding to the applayed movement of the yoke so why not during flight? I have removed all assignments in msfs so that can't be the cause. Is there some setting in fsuipc7 I have to look after? I hope somebody can give me a solution.

Kind regards,

Dolf

So it is responding, but not during flight, i.e. it responds when static on the runway? There is no change in FSUIPC7 between when on-ground/static and in flight.

Could you show me / attach your FSUIPC7.log and FSUIPC7.ini files please showing your issue and I will take a look. Set logging for Axis Controls, load the aircraft and replicate your issue, then exit FSUIPC7 and attach those files. the log file may be large and need zipping.

John

@fsuipc Dear John,

Thanks you for taking time to look at my ini and log files.

To answer your first question: I didn't mean a difference in respons static on the runway and respons in flight. I did mean a difference in Prosim respons on the elevator and the respons of my flightmodel.

I made a log file (V1) and noticed that the flap was constantly changing while I didn't touched the flaphandle. I looked in Prosim and there was a constantly change of numeric value of the flaps. It was changing far beyond the decimal point but still changing. So I disconnected the flap in Prosim and disconnected the flap pot from the Leo Bodnar interface and made a second log (V2). In both logs the changing of flapvalue is still there. That is strange. In both logs I moved the throttle (was maybe not necesary), speedbrake, elevator, rudder en ailerons (not specific in that order).

I hope these files are the one you need. If not, please correct me, and I will send new (better) files.

Kind regards,

Dolf

Dear John,

Please don't spend (more) time on my case. From others I got the info that Prosim and PMDG 737 don't work well together. That is the problem. I am going to use the Prosim flightmodel.

Thank anyway for your time.

Dolf

Also, I don't know the PMDG 737 works in FSX, but in MSFS FSUIPC calibration can cause issues with PMDG aircraft.

Check your elevator assignment. You can try assigning using 'Direct to FSUIPC Calibration' AND calibrating in FSUIPC. But if this causes issues, assign using 'Send to FS as normal axis' and make sure that there is no post-calibration happening. If you are using profiles, make sure you are also using profiles for calibration and remove / reset any elevator calibration.

and noticed that the flap was constantly changing while I didn't touched the flaphandle.

Some MSFS aircraft continually log certain events, and these events are different for each aircraft. Such continually logged events can be considered as noise in the logs, and you can prevent these being logged by using the DontLogThese ini parameter.

But looking at your ini, you are not using FSUIPC for any assignments or calibration. If you have assigned in ProSim, then you need to contact them about your issue. If you are writing to FSUIPC offsets to control the elevator, I would need to know what offsets you are using, and see a log file where these offsets are logged, as well as maybe logging for IPC Writes. But I thinbk you should talk to ProSim about this first.

Ok - saw this after typing my response, which I will leave anyway. It did surprise me that you were using ProSim with the PMDG737 as I am not sure how these can work together, but then again I have never used ProSim so my knowledge here is a bit flakey.

Anyway, hope you manage to get this working.

Regards,

John
