Very curious how this value had disappeared in the first place.

It wouldn't disappear without a reason... If this was previously present, either it was removed or you are using a different FSUIPC7.ini file, maybe due to installing in a different folder than before. But nothing has changed in FSUIPC with respect to this issue, it will be due to the changes/restore of your system, when your "user settings had to be redone" as your sim "went bonkers and reset itself". What was the reason for this? Did you perhaps re-install FSUIPC7 in a different folder? Maybe check for FSUIPV7 installations, if that is the case.

No, I hadn't even re-installed FSUIPC. Let alone in a different folder. I was also surprised as I don't think anything MSFS related triggers a change in FSUIPC7.ini. MSFS had major issues launching (server issues), it would repeatedly get hung at 0%. Tried things like resetting my router and starting with a blank Community. After a few hours it finally entered again with no issues... only that all my control settings and all user settings except Display settings reverted to base. In any case it is solved now ...

All I can tell you is that this parameter is never changed by FSUIPC itself. I have no idea what happened for this to be removed. but if it was there previously and then was removed, it must be down to user interaction rather than the software. This parameter is only ever read, never written.
