This are the (new) Support Forums for FSUIPC and related products.

These forums replace the old support forums which have been running for 20+ years. The old forums contain a wealth of information on all FSUIPC products, and are still available (until the end of the year) for read-only here.

At the moment these new forums are quite empty – I will be updating the FAQ section and copying across the User Contributions from the old forums in the next few months.

Can someone please help. I have spent hours and hours trying to get a simple sound file to trigger with an fsuipc button on my Thrustmaster T.A320Pilot joystick. I created the lua file from the FSUIPC Lua library, I have ensured the sound file is in P3Dv4.5\Sound, the lua file was added to my FSUIPC folder and the button selected showed joystick B button 13. I attach my FSUIPC6.ini file along with the lua file and the sound file, which plays OK with windows media player. The sound is in 16bit 44.1Hz format. FSUIPC6 is installed in G:\FSUIPC, a separate SSD containing the flight simulator.

The aircraft involved is Aerosoft’s A320 CFM PRO and it is installed in my Documents\Prepar3d v4.5 Add-ons folder. I have pondered whether this is not the reason the sound won’t play – a possible connectivity issue?

Help will be very gratefully appreciated.

Some wav files don’t seem to play due to the sample size. I have converted that file using this online utility: https://www.freeconvert.com/wav-converter
So please try the attached:

See the following post in the old forums for further details on this issue (this is for MSFS / FSUIPC7 but also applies to other versions of FSUIPC):

Also, please note that you are using an old an unsupported version of FSUIPC6 (6.0.5). The latest and only supported version is 6.2.2 – please update.

Hi John,

Many thanks for solving my problem. The sound file now plays when I press the allocated button.

I did a google AI search re the format of the sound file and I was incorrectly advised!

Interestingly, the converted file, which I downloaded, plays the “ding dong” sound at the front of the file when testing, but after installing it in P3Dv4.5\sound, only the speech plays. The ding dong has disappeared. No matter, at least I have what I wanted.

Thank you for pointing me to the sound converter.

I have updated my FSUIPC to version 6.2.0.2.

Again, many thanks.

Quentin
