Hi John. I’ve installed FSUIPC6 v6.2.0.2 and run MakeRunways v5.1.3. All completed okay with no errors.

Thanks Ray. Not sure why @gmma91 / Walter is getting this issue now, but thanks for the advice. He should also check he is using the latest/final update of MakeRunways. It should work without issues in FSX and all versions of P3D. There are some issues with using it in MSFS2020 due to encryption, but should work for unencrypted airports, and it probably doesn’t work that well in MSFS2024 due most things being streamed and/or encrypted, so it is unable to scan the files.

John

@fsuipc John, one thing I didn’t understand was the time stamp on LorbyScenery.cfg file. It was dated 2023 but I have installed new scenery since then and run MR on each occasion. I noticed when launching MR a DOS-style black box briefly appears which I guess is the Lorby executable opening and closing very quickly.

So I launched that manually and this time the cfg file had its timestamp updated. Not sure why it shouldn’t update when run silently via MR.

Still, everything seems fine so hopefully Walter can use the info here to check things out.

Ok – maybe a permissions issue. Windows seems to be getting stricter on permissions with each update.
I wonder if anything was logged in the makerunways log/txt file about this (i.e. if the Lorby scenery Exported couldn’t be ran)?

Thanks for the update Ray.

Regards,

John

@fsuipc Hi John. I’ve just checked runways.txt as this is what it showed at the start…

Make Runways File: Version 5.131 by Pete Dowson
FS version code =#6
Using “LorbySceneryExport.exe MakeRwys_Scenery.cfg”
… ERROR: failed to run Lorby program, error=740!
Reading Prepar3D v5 scenery:
The CFG file being used is: “C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\SCENERY.CFG”
208 scenery layers to be processed

Searching for that error message suggests the Lorby executable is not being run at an elevated level (admin level?)

But I’m running MakeRunways with Admin rights so that should be passed to Lorby’s program shouldn’t it? Any ideas?

I’ll take a look tomorrow John and report back. 👍

I’ve sorted the problem. I right-clicked LorbySceneryExporter.exe and selected Properties. Compatability tab. Selected “Run this program as Administrator”.

Now when I run MakeRunways there’s no error in Runways.txt. 😊

Thanks so much for ur efforts.  I tried just about everything I could think of.  I noticed that the Lorby cfg  file showed zero.  On dumb luck I ran Addon Organizer and then saved… it worked!

I have no clue as to why that file was emptied.  It showed empty in my two backups also… very puzzling.  So I’m updating my backups and hopefully prevent future headaches.

Thanks agn and have a great holiday!

Walter
