This are the (new) Support Forums for FSUIPC and related products.

These forums replace the old support forums which have been running for 20+ years. The old forums contain a wealth of information on all FSUIPC products, and are still available (until the end of the year) for read-only here.

At the moment these new forums are quite empty – I will be updating the FAQ section and copying across the User Contributions from the old forums in the next few months.

Problems reinstalling FSUIPC4

Hardware: New Windows 10 64 bit Install

Target Product: FSX

Today I had to reinstall FSUIPC4 from a saved .zip file since I lost everything FSUIPC in the W10 install.   I had an earlier version like 4.0.xx which I used initially because I didn’t find the 4.9.xx version I had until later in this fiasco.  I installed v.4 and got into an FSX session and started to work on some new profiles that I lost in the W10 install.  I wondered why I couldn’t get the function to work where profiles are stored in a separate directory.  I think I then read that this feature wasn’t introduced ’till 4.9.xx or so.

I dug around and found a .zip file in another backup location that said in the notes it was 4.9.xx and installed that thinking I would get the ability to save profiles externally.  Keep in mind I have a proper license key.

Every time I completed installs (a half dozen or more) the logs all said everything was “ok” in FSX, P3D and registration process.

So I started an FSX flight and no “Addons” entry showed up on the menu bar.  I tried various fixes all of which failed.

In desperation I tried reinstalling the 4.0.xx version (which actually did work) and got a message from the installer saying there was a newer version already installed an un-ceremoniously stopped.

Long and short of it “I got NUTTIN” now.

Looking for a solution here so I don’t waste yet another 4 hours.

I’m adding on to my previous post after reading through the Install log which I have attached this time.

I wonder if the following log entry is trying to tell me that something else needs to be done to “load” FSUIPC when running FSX

The log entry in question:

Now checking DLL.XML …
… There is a previous DLL.XML, checking for FSUIPC4 section.
… FSUIPC4 section already exists but will be replaced.
(for FSUIPC4, without Loader)
… FSUIPC4 section of DLL.XML written okay

Your install log shows that you tried to install version 4.947c. That did not install as you already had a later version installed:

Checking if there’s already a version of FSUIPC4 installed in:
D:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.DLL
… Version 4.977 found.
Installed version is later: it is not overwritten.

4.977 is the latest and only supported version of FSUIPC4. Please do not install or use other versions.

Your log also shows that you are using the base version of FSX, 10.0.60905 You need to install at least SP!, and better to also install SP2. These are the latest FSX versions:

  • 10.0.60905 Base FSX (Deluxe or Standard Edition)
  • 10.0.61355 Service Pack 1
  • 10.0.61472 Service Pack 2
  • 10.0.61637 Acceleration Expansion Pack (includes SP2)

So install SP1 and SP2, then try re-install the latest version of FSUIPC4. If you still have issues, then please show me your installation log file.

If there is an entry for FSUIPC4 in your DLL.xml file, FSX should try and start FSUIPC4. If it can’t start for any reason, you should see a pop-up message about this. Do you not see such a pop-up?

Please also note that you have the SP1 and SP2 SimConnect dll installed, so FSUIPC will use the latest, SP2. However, as you are running FSX without SP1 or SP2, then this SimConnect will not work with FSX, hence your issue.

Please respond in these forums. Any direct emails will be ignored. Such questions and my answers are useful for other people who have this issue, and if I provide support via email this is individual and nobody else will see the responses. I hope you understand.
